Alpha students complete their academic work through AI-driven applications. There are no lectures or textbooks. Approximately 60% of your time is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions covering topics like public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback. Roughly 30% involves meeting with students individually or in small groups to examine their progress via Coachbot analytics and drive them toward weekly app targets. The remaining 10% is dedicated to reviewing data and translating insights into actionable coaching strategies for the week ahead. You will not be following a rigid script; the workshop frameworks are a foundation, and top performers customize them or create entirely new ones when a need arises. A successful semester means that no less than 90% of students in your cohort meet their weekly app objectives, demonstrate quantifiable improvement in life skills on Test2Pass, and assign you a rating of 4 out of 5 or higher. Falling short on any of these three metrics means the role has not been fulfilled. As you demonstrate your ability to uphold these standards, advancement opportunities emerge—first to Lead Guide, where you mentor incoming Guides while continuing to lead a cohort, and eventually to Campus Lead, where you oversee an entire school and manage parent engagement. If you prefer conventional teaching methods, expect a ready-made curriculum, or view warmth and rigor as incompatible, this position is not for you. If your background includes athletic coaching, camp counseling, tutoring where you refused to let a student give up, or performing in front of middle schoolers, the last step before an offer is spending a full day on campus working directly with Alpha students. What You Will Be Doing Facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions for K-8 cohorts covering public speaking, focus, feedback exchange, and other lasting competencies, modifying the framework and creating new content when you identify a need Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching sessions that drive each student toward their weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha\'s incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and your rapport with each child to overcome resistance Overseeing administration of Test2Pass (Alpha\'s competency-based evaluation) for each life skill, and continuing to coach students who do not pass until mastery is achieved Adjusting your approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring high energy and physical activity to 8th graders needing candid conversations and accountability Analyzing weekly cohort performance metrics in Coachbot, pinpointing students falling behind, and recalibrating your coaching strategy for the next week based on the data What You Won’t Be Doing Delivering lessons at a whiteboard; academic content resides in the applications, not with you Designing an entire curriculum from scratch; you begin with an established playbook and personalize it with your own energy and narrative skills Passively monitoring students as they work on computers; motivation in this role is active, individualized, and persistent Working through bureaucratic channels to secure resources for students in need; if a child requires additional coaching time, you decide and implement the same day Grading assignments, conducting standardized test preparation, or handling parent outreach; Campus Leads manage parent communication, and the other tasks do not apply here Student Success Coach Key Responsibilities Guarantee that every student in your K-8 cohort achieves their weekly learning targets, attains mastery in each life skill, and finishes the year expressing genuine appreciation for your impact.
