Description:
The unit consists of 23 beds on the 4th floor and 14 beds on the 3rd floor.
The ideal nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, which can go up to 1:7.
Common diagnoses include NSTEMI, COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, and acute kidney injury.
RNs are not required to titrate drips.
A Charge Nurse or House Supervisor is available on the unit.
Patient Care Technicians are present, with a ratio of 1:8.
Respiratory Therapy equipment is limited to home units only.
Heated high-flow oxygen is the highest level of care provided.
Telemetry is available, with monitoring technicians scheduled to read strips.
RNs are responsible for signing off on strips throughout the shift.
Shifts generally run from 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM.
Every other weekend and holiday shifts are typically required.
There is a low census requirement, which is rare, and no on-call obligations.
Floating may occur to ICU, ER, or Behavioral Health Care if the candidate has the appropriate level of experience.
Any color of scrubs is acceptable, along with close-toed shoes and good hygiene.
Department-specific orientation includes one shift, with a binder provided containing details.
The charting system used is EPIC.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is not required for this position.
This position is in an acute care setting.
The trauma level is unspecified.
