Position Summary. A Project Engineer works with other engineers and detailers in a team setting to design structural steel connections and generate fabrication and erection drawings. Personal Characteristics. Certain personal characteristics, which are somewhat inherent and difficult to teach, are necessary for long-term success in this role.Candidates will possess: ·Resourcefulness to efficiently and creatively solve problems ·Ability to effectively communicate technical information · Initiative to set goals and follow through to achieve them Key Responsibilities ·Generate sketches and calculations to support structural steel connection designs. ·Work collaboratively with detailers to produce quality drawings in a timely manner. ·Work with EOR’s to achieve the best design and connections for Merrill. ·Manage projects with respect to detailing/engineering budgets and schedule. ·Manage outside connection engineers whom Merrill delegated connection design. ·Mentor newly hired engineers and help to build their skills to be a successful project engineer. ·Review project scope, specification, and drawings to estimate project costs during bid stage. ·Be a resource for all Merrill Steel employees.
