Position Summary We are looking for a detail‑oriented, manufacturing‑savvy Accountant to join our operations team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance & Operations, you will be the primary owner of our day‑to‑day financial accuracy and cost‑accounting integrity. This is a "full‑stack" accounting role where you will manage everything from monthly reconciliations and inventory counts to assisting with investor‑ready financial reporting. Location Brighton Park office in Chicago, IL Key Responsibilities Provide data‑driven Managerial Accounting support to drive actionable insights for company decision‑making. Assist in the annual budgeting process by gathering historical data and identifying trends. Act as the "point person" for data requests during External Audits and Tax Reviews. Maintain AP/AR workflows and ensure all vendor and customer records are accurate. Execute Month‑End and Year‑End closing procedures, ensuring all Balance Sheet tie‑outs are completed on schedule. Prepare preliminary Financial Statements and supporting schedules for the Senior Director's review. Assist in the preparation of specialized reports for Grants and Investor updates. Support the operations team by managing Cost Centers and tracking departmental spend. Calculate and monitor Inventory Direct Costing and Overhead allocations to ensure product margins are accurately reflected. Coordinate and lead Semi‑Annual Inventory Counts, reconciling physical data to the GL. Conduct Variance Reviews (Budget vs. Actual) and provide clear explanations for discrepancies. Qualifications At least 5–7 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Manufacturing or Cost‑heavy environment preferred. Strong proficiency in GAAP, competency with financial statement reporting; advanced Excel skills a must, including experience building and maintaining Excel models and internal stakeholder reporting dashboards. Experience with ERP software is highly preferred. High attention to detail and the ability to explain the "why" behind the numbers. You enjoy the process of "tying things out" until they are accurate and defensible. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
