Job Title Advocate for Injured Employees (Ombudsman IV) – Dallas. Location Dallas Field Office, 1250 W Mockingbird Lane Ste 200, Dallas, TX 75247. Job Details Department: Office of Injured Employee Counsel (OIEC). Employee Status: Regular. Schedule: Full Time. Travel: Yes, 25 % of the time. Grade: 23. Salary: 5,098.67 monthly. Overtime Status: Exempt. Number of Openings: 1. Responsibilities Assist and educate injured employees throughout the dispute resolution process. Answer questions from injured employees and review claims for medical and income benefits. Study case background and gather evaluating information, including medical records and letters from doctors. Report and refer complaints, track and provide claim status updates. Assist with referrals to social services and other state agencies. Assist with filing claims and obtaining supporting documentation. Contact insurance carriers and medical providers to identify and resolve disputes. Document customer contacts in a computer system. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university. Three years full‑time experience in claims management, insurance, casework, law office, healthcare, social work, or workers’ compensation. Education and experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis. Preferences Experience with medical terminology, rehabilitation, and disabilities/impairments. Public speaking (training, outreach, community speaking, etc.). Bilingual English and Spanish language skills (oral and written). Required Skills Microsoft Word and Outlook proficiency. Assisting the public and handling and solving problems. Interpreting and explaining laws and regulations. Data entry and retrieval. Use of correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Other Requirements Travel as required. Multitask between different cases and meet deadlines. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals and groups. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees and the public. If holding a current law license, surrender it upon hire. Must reside in Texas or be able to relocate to Texas by the start date. OIEC does not sponsor or assume sponsorship of employment visas.
