Resident Services Specialist

Overview Resident Services Specialist — 3rd Shift 11:00pm–7:00am. Schedule: Week 1 Thursday, Week 2 Friday. 8 hours per week. Responsibilities Security Duties: Maintain the safety and security of residents and the facility. Complete building checks at stipulated times (each hour) and document completion. Maintain an active presence in the building by conducting house checks, dining room checks, playroom and teen room checks, and a walkthrough of the building. Intervene to protect residents from harming themselves or others (according to policy). Ensure outside individuals have permission to be on property; document visitors in the visitor log. Understand emergency procedures including fire evacuation, gas and electricity shut off, power failure protocol, etc. Distribute incoming mail (according to agency policy). Keep staff workspace clean and organized. Remain at post until relieved; brief incoming staff and assist with staff coverage as needed. De-escalate potentially volatile situations between residents per agency protocol. Maintain telephone coverage during shift and monitor security cameras. Interact professionally and maintain appropriate boundaries with residents, employees, visitors, and guests. Follow all agency policy and procedures. Document shelter activities and happenings during the assigned shift. Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and related manuals. Be open to change within the work environment. Resident Services Specialist Duties: Supervise residents during the assigned shift and enforce regulations in the resident handbook. Assist residents in adjusting to their stay and direct them to the appropriate support staff. Supervise daily activities, including chores, sign-in/out, meals, use of play/teen rooms, and curfew adherence. Read and initial shift reports and daily logs; complete required paperwork; document verbal and written warnings as defined by policy. Maintain confidentiality of residents’ files and logs. Obtain verification from residents for employment, curfew extensions, meetings, and house restrictions as needed. Comply with OTC medication and lock box procedures. Monitor resident usage of agency phones. Maintain resident property and storage; inventory, pack, and secure property as required (48 hrs to discard). Additional duties may be assigned (e.g., resident resume preparation, welcome meetings). Attend staff meetings as scheduled and carry out other duties as assigned by a supervisor. Third shift must complete scanning, shredding, office and bathroom cleaning, laundry, and breakfast setup/cleanup for residents. Monitor dining room during meal times and ensure all paperwork is completed before the shift ends. Qualifications: Required: Mature, responsible individual with experience in social services or health care. Excellent crisis management, listening, verbal and written communication, professional boundaries, conflict resolution, and basic computer skills. Must be available for shifts 3:00pm–11:00pm. Reliable transportation required. Preferred: Knowledge of community resources and issues affecting individuals experiencing homelessness; knowledge of emergency medical procedures. Physical Requirements: Occasional need to climb stairs while carrying items up to 25 lbs. Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift. Move items up to 25 lbs. Move throughout the building multiple times a day. Bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching occasionally. Must be able to pass physical and written CPR certification training.
