Travel Infusion Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH), a community-focused acute care critical access hospital in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, is seeking an experienced Travel Infusion Registered Nurse. This role offers the opportunity to provide direct clinical care and essential administrative support within a dynamic Infusion Center that serves approximately 15-20 patients daily.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe administration of intravenous therapies, coordination of infusion services, and contribution to operational workflows. This includes managing patient scheduling, prior authorizations, clinical order reviews, and maintaining effective communication with providers, payers, and the interdisciplinary care team. We are looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented nurse passionate about delivering patient-centered care in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer intravenous medications and therapies in accordance with NVRH and Infusion Nurses Society (INS) standards, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Monitor patient responses to infusion treatments, identifying and addressing any adverse reactions promptly.
• Coordinate clinical and administrative operations, including managing patient scheduling, processing prior authorizations, and reviewing clinical orders.
• Maintain effective communication with providers, payers, and the care team to ensure seamless patient care.
• Provide clear, personalized education to patients and families regarding treatment plans, assessing understanding, and documenting teaching efforts.
• Ensure accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in electronic health records, medication administration logs, and transfusion records, adhering to hospital policies.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Registered Nurse (RN) School of Nursing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent RN experience.
• Demonstrated experience in infusion therapy and central venous access device management, including ports.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Annual Flu vaccination required, no exceptions.

Preferred Qualifications

• One (1) year of acute care experience.
• Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) certification.

• Proficiency in intravenous medication administration and infusion therapy.
• Expertise in central venous access device management, including ports.
• Strong patient assessment and monitoring skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient education and team collaboration.

• Adherence to NVRH and Infusion Nurses Society (INS) standards of practice.
