TRIO EOC/GRIT Program Support Specialist Position Information Classification Title: Temporary Non-Exempt Working Title: TRIO EOC/GRIT Program Support Specialist Datatel Position ID: SSSG0PRGSUSP1A Annual Hours: As needed, not exceeding 25 hours per week (750 hours) Placement Range: $12.00 – $15.00 Position Type: Temporary Part-time Job Category: Non-Exempt Department: TRIO EOC/GRIT Job Open Date: 06/04/2024 Job Close Date: Open Until Filled General Description The TRIO EOC/GRIT Program Support Specialist assists the program coordinator in recruiting and supporting approximately 850 Guidance for Realizing Individual Transformation (GRIT) participants to enroll in post‑secondary education or obtain credentials. This appointment is contingent upon grant funding; if the grant is no longer available the position may be terminated without cause upon written notice. Responsibilities Initiate and complete project activities at the College, community agencies, churches, businesses, and community organizations. Conduct academic enrichment workshops on campus and off campus covering financial literacy, study skills, test‑taking skills, and time management. Provide individual and group counseling, career development counseling, and information on post‑secondary education opportunities. Assist students with post‑secondary applications, financial aid forms, and coaching for entrance exams. Travel within assigned counties (Grady, Kingfisher, Lincoln, Oklahoma, and Pottawatomie) to support participants’ enrollment and credential attainment. Maintain and update a participant recruitment database, and conduct monthly follow‑up via phone, visit, or email. Administer career assessment inventories to participants or refer to certified practitioners. Ensure participants are enrolled and progressing in college. Assist in developing program marketing materials (flyers, brochures, posters, multimedia presentations). Coordinate and participate in on‑campus and off‑campus program activities. Maintain current knowledge of federal TRIO program developments. Serve on assigned college committees. Work effectively in a college environment and demonstrate interpersonal skills with diverse groups. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Experience working in community college settings with adults. Experience in post‑secondary education settings. Physical Demands & Working Conditions General Physical Requirements: Sedentary work with occasional lifting up to 10 pounds. Physical Activities: Frequent movement within office, campus, and outreach locations; communication with students and staff; standing and stationary periods; use of computer and office equipment; repetitive wrist motions. Visual Acuity: Ability to judge, observe, and assess accuracy and thoroughness of work. Working Conditions: Frequent use of computer, other office machinery, and mobile devices.
