Front Street Dowagiac, MI 49047 Phone: View phone number on click.appcast.io Fax: View phone number on click.appcast.io Position: Elementary School Counselor / Social Worker Reports to: Director of Student Services and Building Principal Requirements: M.A. in counseling and Michigan certification or the ability to obtain Ability to develop and maintain relationships with non-school agencies Ability to work in classrooms, small groups and in individual settings Knowledge of counseling and intervention strategies Commitment to asset-based approach to students Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse cultural, racial and socioeconomic student population Demonstrated ability to work effectively with parents Ability to work as a team member with staff and administration Self-directed, organized, and able to prioritize when given a variety of responsibilities and assigned tasks Technology experience and application in the counseling process Preferences: Previous experience in counseling – elementary level or middle school level Training or desire to be a trauma certified counselor Comprehensive School Counseling programs including ASCA or SchoolSocial Work certification.
