Job Title: Clinical Research Dietician (Part-Time) – Salisbury, NC

Job Description

This part-time clinical research dietician role focuses on supporting participants enrolled in a lifestyle management study by providing nutrition guidance, exercise planning, and education on tracking health behaviors. You will work directly with randomized patients at set intervals throughout the study, ensure adherence to the study protocol, and help determine eligibility based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. This position offers a long-term opportunity to build experience in clinical research within a structured study environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with randomized patients as they receive lifestyle management standard operating procedures at 12-week increments during the study.
• Develop individualized diet and exercise goals that align with the lifestyle protocol defined for the study.
• Teach participants how to accurately capture and record physical activity and food intake using study-provided materials and tools.
• Educate participants on healthful nutrition and lifestyle habits in accordance with the study guidelines.
• Review participant information and, in accordance with the study protocol, determine whether patients meet inclusion and exclusion criteria for participation.
• Support ongoing adherence to the study protocol by reinforcing lifestyle management goals and monitoring participant progress.
• Collaborate with clinical research staff and, when needed, interact with the principal investigator (PI) and clinical research associates (CRAs) to discuss study-related matters.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of participant interactions, nutrition plans, and activity tracking as required by clinical research standards.

Essential Skills

• Active North Carolina license as a registered dietitian.
• Proven knowledge of nutrition and health education principles applicable to lifestyle and behavior change.
• Experience or strong interest in clinical research settings and protocol-driven work.
• Ability to create and adjust diet and exercise plans in alignment with a structured study protocol.
• Strong communication skills to teach participants how to document physical activity and food intake clearly and consistently.
• Capability to interpret and apply inclusion and exclusion criteria to assess patient eligibility for study participation.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple participants and maintain accurate study records within defined timelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification is preferred; training can be provided if not already obtained.
• Comfort interacting with principal investigators (PIs) and clinical research associates (CRAs) on an occasional basis.
• Background in health education or related fields is beneficial.
• Interest in building long-term experience in clinical research and lifestyle intervention studies.

Work Environment

This is an on-site, part-time position based in Salisbury, North Carolina, with an expected workload of approximately 15–20 hours per week. The schedule is flexible, allowing for coordination of participant visits around 12-week study intervals. You will work within a clinical research setting, following established protocols and using study-provided materials to document nutrition plans, physical activity, and food intake. The environment emphasizes collaboration with research professionals and adherence to clinical research standards while offering opportunities for long-term professional growth in the field.

This is a Contract position based out of Salisbury, NC.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
