Cornell University Veterinary Specialists (CUVS) is seeking a board-certified Emergency and Critical Care specialist. Proficiency or interest in emergency surgery is desirable. This position offers a unique hybrid of private practice efficiency and academic engagement. Why CUVS? CUVS is a singular hospital. Our specialists play a true leadership role in medical and organizational decision-making. Our ECC service is well established and highly supported, and includes five criticalists, five ECC residents, six experienced emergency clinicians, and multiple highly trained veterinary nurses (including VTSs). Critical care works closely with our other specialty services, including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Anesthesiology, and Dentistry-Oral Surgery. We emphasize evidence-based medicine, shared decision-making, and a patient-centered care model. Our facility supports advanced diagnostics and therapeutics, including a dedicated ICU, mechanical ventilation, high-flow nasal oxygen, an in-house blood bank, viscoelastic coagulation monitoring, 128-slice CT, endoscopy, and fluoroscopy. A large and complex caseload, combined with clients committed to high-level care, enables robust clinical practice.
