Registered Veterinary Technician

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registered Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate possess a strong foundation in veterinary medicine, animal handling, technical procedures, and is a team player.

The Advanced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) functions as a clinical operator and surgical flow controller within a high-volume specialty surgery environment. This role is responsible for the safe execution of anesthesia, coordination of perioperative patient care, and adherence to hospital SOPs, ensuring both patient safety and operational efficiency. The RVT plays a critical role in maintaining surgical throughput, supporting clinical decision-making, and ensuring all procedures are performed in a consistent, auditable, and compliant manner.

*Core Responsibilities*

*1. Pre-Surgical Patient Management*

* Perform patient intake and surgical preparation
* Execute phlebotomy, catheter placement, and diagnostic sample collection
* Assist with radiology and imaging procedures
* Verify completion of required diagnostics per SOP
* Assign and document ASA classification
* Identify abnormalities and escalate appropriately prior to anesthesia

*2. Anesthesia Planning and Execution*

* Prepare and verify anesthetic drugs, including CRIs, with appropriate calculations
* Perform anesthesia machine checks and equipment preparation
* Induce anesthesia, intubate, and secure airway
* Monitor and interpret physiologic parameters continuously
* Initiate appropriate interventions within defined protocols

*3. Intraoperative Support and Surgical Flow*

* Maintain anesthesia throughout procedures while supporting surgical team efficiency
* Assist with surgical procedures as appropriate without compromising patient monitoring
* Contribute to on-time case starts and efficient case turnover

*4. Post-Operative Care and Recovery*

* Monitor patient recovery and determine extubation readiness
* Administer pain management and supportive care
* Identify complications and initiate or escalate interventions
* Ensure patient stability prior to discharge or transfer

*5. Client Communication and Discharge*

* Provide clear discharge instructions and medication guidance
* Educate clients on post-operative care and warning signs
* Escalate concerns to veterinarian when necessary

*6. Equipment, Facility, and SOP Compliance*

* Perform daily equipment checks, including anesthesia machines and monitoring devices
* Maintain crash cart readiness and emergency equipment
* Follow sterilization protocols and maintain autoclave logs
* Adhere to controlled substance handling and documentation requirements
* Comply with all hospital SOPs and regulatory standards

*7. Medical Records and Documentation*

* Maintain accurate and real-time documentation in EZYVET
* Complete anesthesia records to audit-ready standards
* Document treatments, medications, and patient responses

*8. Team Contribution and Professional Standards*

* Maintain punctuality and readiness for scheduled shifts
* Communicate effectively with veterinarians and team members
* Support training and mentorship of team members
* Demonstrate initiative and commitment to professional growth

Pay: $39.00 - $43.00 per hour
