Job Title: Manual Machinist Job Description
The Manual Machinist sets up and operates manual lathe machines to produce precision components, performs minor troubleshooting on equipment, and ensures all parts meet required specifications. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications, inspecting finished parts with measuring tools, and consistently meeting production quotas and deadlines while following all safety protocols and quality standards.
Responsibilities

• Set up manual lathe machines for production runs according to job specifications.
• Operate manual lathes and related manual machining equipment to produce precision parts.
• Perform minor troubleshooting and adjustments on manual lathe machines to maintain optimal performance.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
• Select appropriate tools, materials, and machining parameters based on job specifications.
• Inspect finished parts using measuring tools to verify dimensions, tolerances, and quality standards.
• Identify and correct defects or deviations in machined parts to ensure product quality.
• Maintain production efficiency by meeting established quotas and deadlines.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures while operating machinery and handling materials.
• Adhere to quality standards and documentation requirements throughout the machining process.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety and housekeeping guidelines.
• Collaborate with team members to support continuous improvement in machining processes and productivity.

Essential Skills

• Proven ability to set up and operate manual lathe machines.
• Hands-on experience with manual machining, including lathe and mill operations.
• Ability to perform minor troubleshooting and adjustments on manual lathe equipment.
• Strong skills in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Proficiency in using measuring tools to inspect finished parts and verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
• Ability to meet production quotas and deadlines in a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of and adherence to safety protocols in a machining or shop setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Any education or certification related to the CNC machining industry is a bonus.
• Experience working with various manual machining equipment such as manual lathes and manual mills.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine operation and maintenance.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address minor machine and process issues.

Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing facility that is heated during the fall and winter months to maintain a comfortable working temperature. The position operates on a first shift schedule, running from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing consistent daytime hours. The team currently consists of approximately 20 employees, offering a close-knit and collaborative environment. Work is performed on manual lathe and other manual machining equipment in a shop setting, with an emphasis on safety, quality, and efficiency.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $66560.00 - $72800.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
Pay is bi-weekly. 160 hours of PTO after 60 days of employment. Paid 1 hour lunch. Weekly attendance bonus $135. Birthday bonus $250. Holiday bonus based on company performance. Match 4% of 401k. Insurance costs $1 per pay period, covers medical-dental-vision insurance. Facility is heated during fall/winter months.
