Registered Nurse Med Surg | Thomasville, North Carolina

An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with a strong MedSurg background to deliver compassionate care in a dynamic transitional care unit within a large academic medical center. This role emphasizes clinical excellence and adaptability, providing support to a variety of patients, including those with CHF, COPD, GI/renal/liver/respiratory issues, CIWA, and wounds. Surgical cases are also seen at times, creating a well-rounded patient population.


Schedule/Hours:

• Night shifts: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Expectation to work 50% of the contract holidays
• Schedules developed in 6-week increments; up to 7 days RTO can be approved

Desired Qualifications:

• Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of recent MedSurg experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proficiency with trachs, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, and central line blood draws
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms (will be assessed during shifts)
• Experience with non-titrating drips: Heparin, Lasix, Protonix required; Cardizem and Amiodarone experience preferred (but training available)
• Prior travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers)

Responsibilities:

• Manage a 1:5 patient ratio in a 20-bed transitional care unit
• Deliver high-quality patient care for a diverse population, including both medical and select surgical diagnoses
• Coordinate with CNAs, charge nurses, and a dedicated support team including 24/7 RT and Hospitalist presence
• Use EPIC for charting, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
• Collect lab samples as needed; collaborate with 24/7 phlebotomy services and telemetry central monitors
