Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical Assistant - Internal Medicine - North Babylon. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting physicians and nurses in the care of patients and families by completing assigned patient care tasks; providing competent, safe, and compassionate care with an emphasis on understanding the challenges faced by hospitalized patients during procedures or diagnostic tests. Job Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned. Assist with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas; escort patients. Obtain vital signs, weights, and EKG; assist with phlebotomy; ensure chart availability; assist physicians with procedures (e.g., GI procedures, all medical exams). Ensure exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned after each patient and prepared for the next; assist with light housekeeping duties, including spills; help patients obtain food, toileting, ambulation, and maintain comfort. Assure completion of patient charges as per policy. Clean and sterilize designated equipment; answer telephone; assist staff in scheduling treatments; assist patients and communicate with physicians for prescription renewals. Stock exam rooms and treatment rooms with medical supplies, linen, and chart forms. Assist with training new Medical Assistants; may perform administrative responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Graduated from a Medical Assistant program or have 2 years of Medical Assistant experience. Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills. Basic knowledge of computers. Preferred Qualifications Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Medical Assistant certification. Knowledge of EPIC Ambulatory. Knowledge of medical terminology. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
