Loop East Houston, TX 77029, USA This position is responsible for providing on-highway truck preventive maintenance repair services to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring, and timely manner. Must build rapport with customers through technical expertise and quality service on equipment so, that service value is received. This position requires a self-motivated, thoughtful individual with a high energy level who can work alone or with others in a shop environment. Essential Functions: Troubleshoots and diagnoses moderate engine & Transmission malfunctions, failures and prepare to provide repair services Performs moderate engine and related equipment repairs on trucks and trailers Uses computers and related software to assist in diagnosing and reprogramming engines Completes documentation for service reports, timecards, parts requisition, and returns Interprets and utilizes information from operating, maintenance, online resources, and service manuals/bulletins Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations Maintains all company equipment, tools, and the vehicle in good, clean, and working order Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards Requires regular and punctual employee attendance Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrates the ability to improve time in the disassembly, inspection, determining parts required, and reassembly of repairs General knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance Knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and On-Highway Truck electronic systems diagnostic tooling Operation and control skills of On-Highway Trucks & Trailers Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Exceptional skills in customer service Excellent time management and organizational skills Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to operate a conventional forklift Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair & overhead crane Ability to operate an On-Highway Truck on public roads Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects Ability to read, write, and understand information Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of 2 years of on-highway truck service required CDL – Class A or B preferred ASE – Medium/Heavy Truck Certification one or more preferred Supervisory Responsibilities: None Travel: Limited travel or overnight stays Travel to other stores that require help during times of heavy workloads may be expected Additional Requirements: Must own and maintain the necessary tools to efficiently perform the job Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record Physical Requirements: A significant amount of time spent standing Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity Communication with customers and constant communication with co-workers Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment Lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 50 lb Occasional kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, reaching, and balancing Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet, and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity Frequently works in an enclosed vehicle or equipment Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment Exposure to high noise levels Works in extremely bright or inadequate lighting Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings Disclaimer: Please note that the above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
