Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Estimating/Preconstruction will lead the transformation of CT Mechanical's estimating function into a best-in-class preconstruction department. You will not be maintaining a system someone else built, you will be the one who builds it. What You'll Own Direct the estimating department's structure and daily performance, standardizing workflows and labor assumptions across all regional offices Manage the full bid lifecycle, from invitation review through award, with rigorous quality control to eliminate preventable errors Build and maintain historical cost databases, vendor pricing intelligence, and market trend data that sharpen pricing accuracy over time Develop high‑trust relationships with vendors and subcontractors, and serve as the bridge between estimating and field operations Recruit, coach, and build career paths for your team, establishing the technical training and performance standards that support the company's growth What You Bring Deep roots in commercial mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing estimating, with the technical fluency to review drawings and takeoffs at a high level A track record of building or elevating an estimating function, not just running one that already works A strategic mindset that treats win/loss data and historical costs as tools for continuous improvement, not paperwork A genuine coaching instinct.
