Associate Buyer

HUSCO Automotive provides an opportunity to pursue a career in Purchasing as an Associate Buyer. Key responsibilities will include quoting and negotiating pricing for prototype components and tooling, making supplier selections, and following through all purchases until components are received.

Performance objectives include:

• Quote and assist with price negotiations for production components and tooling with established and new suppliers to support new product development business growth. Create and track purchase orders to suppliers for production tooling and pre-production components.
• Quote and negotiate price for prototype components and tooling. Work closely with the global prototype supply base in quoting components for new product development / engineering prototypes. Negotiate best pricing and lead times. Create and track purchase orders to suppliers. Monitor and expedite these purchases as required.
• Create Direct Materials Cost Models and submit to Sales. Evaluate and compare quotes, assist with pre-sourcing supplier decisions to complete the cost models.
• Manage supplier relationships for the prototype and production supply base. Balance the needs and performance expectations of HUSCO Automotive Purchasing and Engineering. Serve as liaison between the suppliers and engineering to ensure successful results.
• Strong Team Player and Contributor. Able to work well with colleagues and produce results within a fast-paced atmosphere. Combine strong attention to detail with an orientation towards results/execution.
• Manage all quoting and procurement activities for manufacturing equipment within company ERP system (IFS)
• Source components, including off-the-shelf manufacturing automation sub-components, as well as fabricated components from numerous vendors.
• Review fabricated component drawings to match with capabilities of vendors
• Select appropriate vendors based on cost, lead time, capabilities, quality, and performance
• Manage priorities and vendor workload to match individual project timelines and requirements
• Utilize available data to track vendor performance, driving accountability and rewarding high performance
• Develop relationships with existing vendors, and actively research and develop new vendors in key areas
• Coordinate with vendors to set up new technology demonstrations for Husco personnel
• Perform daily receiving of all incoming automation components, interfacing with company ERP system (IFS)
• Maintain organization and temporary storage and location of incoming components on a project / sub-project basis, for ease of location and further usage
• Work with project teams to identify upcoming project timelines, locate appropriate documentation, and organize sub-component packages ahead of the assembly processes
• Manage MRO inventory of both new and used automation components, ensuring accuracy and visibility for future usage
• Work with Business Process team to streamline systems, and develop new processes to drive efficiency and robustness within purchasing, receiving, and part management

Requirements include:

• Bachelor's or Associates degree in related field
• Proficient with all applications of Microsoft office.
• Strong organizational skills required with great attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills required
