Job Overview HCA Healthcare is seeking a compassionate RN for our Inpatient Med Surg unit. In this role, you will provide evidence-based, patient-centered care, perform assessments, administer medications, coordinate treatment plans, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities Provide safe, evidence-based inpatient medical-surgical nursing care to adult patients with diverse medical and post-surgical conditions Perform comprehensive and focused patient assessments, interpret clinical data, and develop individualized plans of care Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments, monitoring for therapeutic response and adverse reactions Continuously monitor patient status, recognize and elevate changes in condition, and participate in rapid response or code situations as needed Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR) Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, case managers, and ancillary staff to support optimal patient outcomes and discharge planning Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, medications, treatments, and self-care to support recovery and prevent readmissions Implement and reinforce infection prevention, fall prevention, and safety protocols, including safe patient handling and mobility Perform wound care, dressing changes, catheter care, and other bedside procedures according to hospital standards and policies Support admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring thorough handoffs and continuity of care across settings Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment by communicating effectively, precepting or mentoring as appropriate, and participating in unit-based quality improvement initiatives Key Skills and Topics Acute care nursing Medical-surgical patient assessment Care planning and care coordination Medication administration and IV therapy Wound care and dressing changes Telemetry and patient monitoring Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation Patient and family education Infection prevention and control Vital signs interpretation and trend analysis Clinical prioritization and time management Discharge planning Interdisciplinary team collaboration Basic life support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Pain management Safe patient handling and mobility Fall and pressure injury prevention Blood administration and monitoring Responding to rapid response and code events Benefits Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Qualifications Active, unencumbered RN license in applicable state Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred or obtained within designated timeframe Medical-Surgical Nursing certification (CMSRN or equivalent) preferred Graduation from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred) #J-18808-Ljbffr
