Details MedSurg Neuro & Stroke unit within a hospital setting Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hour schedule (19:00-7:30) Typical patient ratio of 1:7 Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required within the contract Epic EMR proficiency required Requirements Active VA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration 2 years of RN experience required Previous travel nursing experience required Prior experience caring for Neurology/Stroke patients required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (American Heart Association) required No history of license or background hits accepted Must be able to pass a facility EKG/telemetry competency test with 80% or higher Cannot accommodate PAPR respirator use; any fit test issues will disqualify candidacy Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, blood product administration, and phlebotomy Experienced in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy, and chest tube management Knowledgeable in wound care, isolation precautions, and PPE use Experienced with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response protocols Additional Information Located in Coastal Virginia near Virginia Beach and Norfolk, offering access to hiking trails and waterways Provide care for medical-surgical, neurological, and stroke patients Complete 3 hours of required modules prior to start, which are billable Longer assignments through January 2027 may be available but are not required If extended through the winter, must work two of the three winter holidays Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration Driver's license required for address verification prior to offer acceptance Requested time off must be submitted for review and is approved on a per-case basis First-time travelers are not eligible due to required prior travel experience American Traveler Job ID P-746096.
