Postdoctoral Research Associate

Post Doctoral Associate – CIMAS of the University of Miami The Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) of the University of Miami (UM), Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate to participate in one or more of the following: analysis of hydrographic; satellite or other insitu data; study of ocean dynamics and its relationship to weather and climate; and evaluation of the ocean observing system using numerical modeling and statistical methods. The work will be done in close collaboration with scientists in the Physical Oceanography Division at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Atmospheric Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML). The work will involve using and interpreting large data sets and numerical model output. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography or in a related field. The successful candidate should have experience with one or more of the following: observational data analysis; numerical modeling, and descriptive oceanography. Strong communication and computer skills are required. Familiarity with the areas of research commensurate with the general activities at NOAA’s Physical Oceanography Division at AOML would be particularly valuable.
