Description

Summary: Supports the outpatient therapy centers by accepting all referrals for treatment, verifying insurance benefits, facilitating authorization for treatment, scheduling the initial visit for evaluation and performing other related tasks as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Obtaining all necessary patient and insurance information to facilitate the intake process.
• Clinical documentation as required for insurance approval including entering each authorization and verified benefits into the system in a timely and accurate manner.
• Ensuring that the patients right to privacy is not violated.
• Scheduling patients initial visit within 1 working day of approval, for a single discipline.
• Logging all referrals/inquiries on the outpatient daily log.
• Working closely with the clinic manager and clinicians to ensure that patients receive their therapy in a timely manner.
• Proper data entry into EMR on all required fields.
• Assuring all prescriptions are current on new outpatients.
• Maintaining regular contact with and provides documentation to the workers compensation commission, physicians, and insurance companies, as necessary.
• Preparing/ordering departmental supplies and equipment.
• Updating EMR with pertinent outpatient statistical data.
• Actively participating in department meetings.
• Identifying problems and presenting possible solutions to supervisor as they occur.
• Following all customer service policies and initiatives.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One to two years training and/or certification in the medical field preferred. CPR certified preferred. Must have valid driver's license in the State of Texas.
