Project Manager – Detroit Area The Project Manager is responsible for leading cross‑functional teams to successfully launch and manage automotive programs from concept through production. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with customer, quality, and regulatory requirements. Strong coordination with engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and customers (OEMs) is required. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end project management for new product launches (NPI), engineering changes, and serial production improvements. Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and risk assessments. Act as the primary interface with OEM customers for program status, milestones, and issue resolution. Coordinate cross‑functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, logistics) to achieve program objectives. Ensure compliance with automotive standards such as IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, and customer‑specific requirements. Monitor project performance using KPIs (cost, timing, quality) and implement corrective actions when needed. Manage program financials including cost tracking, forecasting, and profitability targets. Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful program delivery. Lead program reviews and report status to senior management. Support continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned for future programs. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred). 5–10 years of experience in project management within the automotive industry, preferably in a Tier 1 supplier environment. Experience with plastic components for automotive is a must. Strong knowledge of automotive launch processes (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, control plans). Proficiency in project management tools and ERP systems. PMP certification is a plus. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
