Production Planner

Employment Type: Contract with potential Contract to hire Duration: 12 Months Pay Rate: $28.00 - $30.50 per hour Shift: Standard Shift Deadline: 9/22/2026 Position Overview The Production Planner will be responsible for supporting the master production schedule to achieve division objectives related to customer service, inventory levels, and configuration management. This role will plan, prepare, issue, and control production schedules and material requirements to ensure the timely and efficient flow of approved materials needed to meet production requirements. Identify common raw material and component requirements based on engineering and production specifications. Maintain accurate item master schedules and Bills of Materials (BOM). Advise management on work-in-progress status, material availability, and potential production issues. Ensure personnel, equipment, materials, and services are available to support production requirements. Confirm material availability to meet production demand and schedule requirements. Prepare work orders and purchase requests for components and parts supporting the master production schedule. Coordinate material movement between internal work areas, storage locations, outside processing facilities, and suppliers. Schedule and expedite the movement of parts through move orders and stock transfers to meet customer shipping deadlines. Project hardware availability for assembly build schedules and monthly sales plan objectives. Analyze inventory usage, scrap, and waste to identify issues impacting inventory level objectives. Monitor and report component shortages and potential production risks. Assist management in resolving issues related to overshipments, shortages, engineering changes, and order cancellations. Prepare detailed component shortage requirements for assigned programs over a three-month planning horizon, as needed. Maintain configuration control for open orders and required data files. Coordinate with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering, Inventory Control, Shipping/Receiving, and Contract Administration teams. Ensure smooth material flow through the production process and maintain accurate communication regarding priorities and status. Recommend process and product improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs using continuous improvement principles. Maintain professional and technical knowledge through training, workshops, publications, networking, and professional associations. Ensure compliance with federal, state, aerospace industry regulations, and applicable company policies. Follow Government/Commercial Practices Manual (GPM/CPM) requirements and procedures. Support cross-functional teams and continuous improvement projects as assigned. Contribute to overall team objectives and complete additional responsibilities as needed. Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, inventory, and material requirements. Ability to analyze inventory usage, shortages, scrap, waste, and production requirements. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications CPIM certification or progress toward certification. Experience in aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing environments. Experience working with master production schedules and material planning systems. Knowledge of configuration management and engineering change processes. Experience with continuous improvement principles. Familiarity with Government/Commercial Practices Manual (GPM/CPM) requirements. Fast-paced manufacturing and production environment. Regular collaboration with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Shipping/Receiving teams. May involve participation in cross-functional teams and continuous improvement projects.
