Sr. Renewables Engineer

SUMMARY: Baker Electric is seeking a Senior Renewables Engineer to join the Renewables Engineering Team. The position will support commercial solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), EV charging, and microgrid projects while helping guide projects through design, permitting, construction, and commissioning phases. This role provides technical leadership, supports day-to-day engineering operations, coordinates engineering resources, and is responsible for engineering team deliverables and project execution. The position serves as a senior technical resource for Engineering and Operations teams while supporting the development of Design Engineers and continuous improvement of engineering processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage engineering deliverables, project schedules, and engineering resource allocation across multiple projects.
• Responsible for engineering team deliverables, project execution, and achievement of engineering milestones.
• Support day-to-day engineering operations and coordinate team priorities to meet business objectives.
• Lead internal and external engineering resources in developing permit-ready and construction-ready design packages.
• Review engineering calculations, studies, reports, and design documents.
• Review and interpret utility requirements, AHJ requirements, and project specifications.
• Support utility interconnection, permitting, and engineering submittal activities.
• Coordinate engineering deliverables with Operations, Construction, and Project Management teams.
• Review vendor-supplied equipment submittals and shop drawings.
• Manage drawing reviews, RFIs, engineering revisions, and resolution of technical issues.
• Represent Baker at client, utility, and AHJ meetings as required.
• Support field engineering, commissioning, startup, and project closeout activities.
• Perform peer reviews and oversee first-level QA/QC reviews of engineering deliverables.
• Mentor Design Engineers and support technical development, training, and performance growth of engineering staff.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in renewable energy, electrical engineering, utility interconnection, or power systems engineering.
• Experience supporting commercial solar, battery energy storage, and distributed energy projects.
• Experience leading engineering resources, coordinating deliverables, and driving project execution.
• Strong knowledge of renewable energy engineering principles, utility interconnection processes, and applicable codes and standards.
• Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and project coordination skills.
