Machine Operator

The Ford Meter Box Co., Inc., is seeking a Machine Operator. Key job duties include but are not limited to:

• Reads blueprints or shop orders for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and determines sequence of operations.
• Selects, positions, and secures tool in toolholder (chuck, collet, or toolpost).
• Positions and secures workpiece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.
• Selects appropriate program and makes necessary program changes.
• Moves controls to position tool and workpiece in relation to each other and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
• Sets up fixture or feeding device, starts machine, and turns handwheel to feed tool to workpiece or vice versa and engages feed.
• Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of each machined workpiece to specifications.
• Works independently on assignments with limited supervision.

Must have basic math skills and able to read a tape measure.

Candidates must have the ability to work independently, have strong organizational skills and initiative while working with the group.
