Senior Java Backend Engineer

Pay Range: $65hr - $70hr

We are seeking a Senior Java Backend Engineer with extensive experience in software development and cloud technologies.

Requirement/Must Have:

• 5 or more years relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 3 or more years relevant work experience with a Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience across the full software development life-cycle including design, requirements, implementation, and testing.
• Proficiency in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, and scripting programming languages.
• Strong development skills with databases and SQL.
• Practical experience working within an Agile/Scrum based environment.
• Strong skills with MS Azure cloud computing platform.
• Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hive, Spark, Presto, Map Reduce, and Hadoop.
• Knowledge of Kafka.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities:

• Designs, develops, debugs, modifies, and tests software programs using Java, scripting, and other current programming languages, methodologies, and technologies.
• Performs hands-on Java development, adopting modern software engineering and delivery practices using Java, Spring Boot, REST/Microservices, and Azure cloud platform.
• Documents software development and/or test development by writing documents, reports, memos, and change requests.
• Tracks software development efforts by creating and maintaining records in the approved tracking management tool.
• Solves engineering problems by analyzing situations and recommending corrective or alternative actions.
• Analyzes, evaluates, and verifies requirements, software, and systems using software engineering practices.
• Investigates, researches, and selects software designs, operating systems, and/or practices.
• Continuously improves processes and work methodologies by interfacing with peers and cross-functional groups.
• Directs support personnel and project activities.
• Demonstrates a commitment to product quality by maintaining compliance with quality policies and procedures.
• Represents the organization as a prime contact on contracts or projects, using discretion and diplomacy to resolve difficult situations.
• Participates in the development of less experienced staff by setting an example, providing guidance, and offering counsel.
