The Lafayette School Corporation (LSC) is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Physical Therapist to support students with disabilities across a K 12 educational setting for the 2026 2027 school year. This full-time position provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping students develop the physical skills necessary to access their educational programs and participate successfully in school activities.

The successful candidate will collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to evaluate student needs, develop individualized service plans, and provide direct and consultative physical therapy services designed to improve student mobility, functional independence, and educational performance.

Physical Therapist

Salary Range: $72,000 - $80,000 annually, based on education and relevant experience.

Contract Length: 186 Days, 8 hours per day

Position Summary

The Physical Therapist works directly with students, staff, and families to identify and address physical challenges that impact a student's ability to participate in educational activities. Services include evaluations, direct therapy, consultation, recommendations for adaptive equipment and positioning, environmental modifications, and collaboration with educational teams to support student access and independence.

School-based Physical Therapists play a vital role in helping students improve functional mobility, balance, strength, endurance, posture, positioning, gait, transfers, and other motor skills necessary to safely and successfully participate in classroom instruction, school routines, and other educational activities.

Qualifications

• Valid Indiana license in Physical Therapy.
• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
• Eligibility to practice as a Physical Therapist in the State of Indiana.
• Knowledge of special education laws, Indiana Department of Education regulations, and Medicaid billing requirements.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Experience working with children and adolescents in educational settings is preferred.

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations to assess students' strengths and needs related to functional mobility and participation in educational activities.
• Prepare written evaluation reports and present findings during case conference committee meetings.
• Develop measurable goals and recommendations for students receiving physical therapy services.
• Provide direct physical therapy services aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
• Provide written and verbal reports while collaborating as an active member of multidisciplinary educational teams.
• Consult with teachers, parents, and administrators regarding strategies to support student participation, mobility, safety, and independence within the educational environment.
• Design, fabricate, adapt, and recommend materials, positioning devices, and equipment to support student access to educational programs.
• Collaborate with school personnel to promote students' independent functioning throughout the school environment.
• Complete daily treatment documentation in accordance with department procedures and maintain accurate records consistent with Medicaid, state, and district requirements.
• Prepare evaluation reports, progress reports, and other written documentation as required.
• Upload and maintain documentation in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines.
• Participate in professional development activities and provide in-service training to school personnel regarding physical disabilities, educational supports, physical therapy services, adaptive equipment, and applicable state and federal regulations.

Work Schedule: 8 hours per day

Reports To: Director and Assistant Director of Special Education

Evaluation: Annually by the Director or Assistant Director of Special Education
