Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Meridian, Idaho. This position provides direct bedside care and manages critically ill patients in an acute care intensive care setting. Candidates must bring their license on the first day of employment.

Job Details

• Schedule: Nights (7p7a), 12 shift hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week; every other weekend.
• Required Qualifications: Current RN licensure (license to submit required); Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification; NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) Certification.
• Preferred Qualifications: At least 2 years of critical care (ICU) experience (non PCU) for night shift.
• Responsibilities:
  • Titrate and/or manage critical drips including, but not limited to, norepinephrine, epinephrine, phenylephrine, nitroglycerin, diltiazem, nicardipine, propofol, fentanyl, morphine, versed, precedex, heparin, insulin, and more.
  • Provide care for common ICU diagnoses/types of patients, including STEMI, NSTEMI, post-cardiac arrest, sepsis, DKA, ETOH withdrawal, stroke with thrombectomy, stroke with and without TNK, GI bleeds, respiratory failure, COPD, and more.
  • Participate in unit-based workflow that includes tele/monitor strip responsibilities: sign off a portion of strips completed by tele-tech and complete at least one tele strip independently per shift.
  • Support the inpatient care environment where a designated charge nurse is present on each shift and takes an assignment only when necessary.
• Additional Information:
  • Patients may require care related to specialty devices such as IABP, Impella, CRRT (CRRT-NX Stage), and Zoll Thermo for cooling. Prior experience with these devices is not required, though prior experience may be considered.
  • Float may be required across campuses and/or to a Patient Safety Attendant role on other floors; floating is rotational and may require approximately a 2-hour notice when possible, though mid-shift floating can occur when necessary. Floating is not typically down to PCU or MS-Tele unless prior experience or interest is present.
  • Hospitalist and/or intensivist coverage is available in the ICU 24/7. The RT team is present in the ICU 24/7, and RN staff must be able to troubleshoot and manage respiratory support if RT is unavailable.
  • Holiday rotation participation may be requested.
  • Schedule is managed by the organization/scheduler; travelers are asked to fill gaps in permanent staffing after the core staff schedule is complete. Block scheduling may be considered for night shift, and the unit does not allow 6 shifts in a row (maximum 5 shifts in a row unless approved by leadership).
  • Unit onboarding includes hospital-wide orientation, ICU-specific onboarding, and one orientation shift on the floor with a preceptor (with an additional shift considered if needed).
  • Charting is completed in EPIC.
