Quality Assurance Specialist - Low Voltage Cabling

Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS)This position will require 100% travel for extended periods. Per diem and travel costs provided.Job Summary: The Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) supports mission critical construction by developing, delivering, and maintaining trade-specific training programs focused on low-voltage systems. This role is responsible for creating comprehensive curriculum and skills-based learning paths for both new and existing IES team members to elevate craftsmanship, and technical proficiency. The QAS conducts field quality inspections and audits to ensure adherence to project specifications, installation standards, and customer expectations. In addition, this role provides on-site technical support to project teams, reinforces best practices, identifies process gaps, and partners with operations leadership to drive continuous improvement across all low-voltage scopes.General Job Duties and Responsibilities:Develop, deliver, and reinforce trade-related instruction focused on proper installation, material handling, and testing procedures through a combination of classroom training and hands-on field coachingLead the development of site-specific Quality Plans and Site Startup processes tailored to the unique characteristics of each project.Support the development of First-of-Kind (FOK) installations, execute inspections, and obtain customer approval on the final iterationManage the scheduling, tracking, inspection, and completion of customer and IES quality checklists, including input into the IES and customer specific platformsConduct, document, and report daily field walks focused on early identification of quality issues and verification of conformance with approved First-of-Kind (FOK) standardsUtilize weekly reporting to assess and communicate project health against IES and customer quality standards, escalating identified risks to operations and program leadershipParticipate in or lead project walkthroughs with customers and IES leadershipMaintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standardsImplement training processes and best practices that add value and improve business performanceMaintain personal knowledge, training and proficiency on installed products and course materialsWork with training team to design and implement new training programs and revise old programsEnsure a safe and pleasant learning environment for staff/studentsOther duties as assignedQualifications:Physical and Mental Requirements:Operate as a team member of managementStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailLead by positive example on policy, quality, safety, employee, ethical, and customer satisfaction attitude.Must be able to work a non-standard work schedule as required to provide job, team or individual specific training.For demonstration purposes, must be able to climb ladders, use hand and power tools, lift 50 pounds.Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and lead others to create, develop, implement and review project process improvement(s).Must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.Must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentation(s).Must have proven high skill level interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.Must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.Must possess the ability to learn and teach the Company and customer installation, handling and testing specifications and procedures.Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of training experience or related role.Prefer a minimum of five (5) years of leadership or quality experience in telecommunications, electrical or a related technical or construction field.Prefer a BICSI certified trainer.Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project).Must meet Company minimum driving standards.High School diploma or equivalent.Must be able to effectively use basic hand tools: screwdriver (regular and Phillips), torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), and pliers (needle nose and channel locks), crescent wrench, sewing (stitching) needle, cable sheers, flush cutting pliers, multi-meter and rubber mallet (gray).Highly knowledgeable of materials, methods, and tools involved in the commercial construction industry.Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.Possess good knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and their application.Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.Working knowledge of construction processes (bid process, project management, delegation, financial, etc.).Overview:IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services to a variety of end markets, including electrical, mechanical and communications contracting solutions for the commercial, industrial, residential and renewable energy markets.
