About the Role
The Company is seeking a Managing Director for Strategic Communications to play a pivotal role in advancing grassroots justice on a global scale. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader, responsible for driving a comprehensive communication strategy that positions the organization as a leading voice in the fight for democracy and climate justice. This role demands a strategic architect with the ability to weave diverse narratives into a compelling story that resonates across borders and movements. The ideal candidate will be a collaborator and coach, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability within a high-performing, values-driven team. They must be a storyteller with moral conviction, capable of translating complex issues into impactful narratives, and be media-savvy with a proven track record of securing high-impact placements. Applicants for the Managing Director position should have a minimum of 12 years' professional experience, with at least 5 years specifically in leading strategic communications for a mission-driven organization. The role requires a candidate with a strong background in campaigns and media, experience in managing diverse teams, and a history of shaping public discourse to support social and environmental causes. The successful candidate will be expected to lead a global strategy that is deeply rooted in local realities, set bold visibility goals, and develop initiatives to grow the movement of grassroots justice advocates. Fluency in English is essential, and proficiency in additional languages and visual storytelling skills is a plus. A background in legal empowerment, human rights, environmental justice, or international development is strongly preferred, as is experience in crisis communications and a proven ability to engage with high-profile stakeholders.
