General Machinist

Job Summary We are seeking a General Machinist / General Mechanic to maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and fabricate parts for production equipment in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude and experience operating machine shop equipment, reading blueprints, and using precision measuring tools. Pay: $15.00-$19.00 per hour (based on experience) Shift: 1st Shift Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM-5:30 PM Type: Temp-to-Hire Responsibilities Maintain and repair manufacturing equipment and machinery Troubleshoot mechanical issues and identify root causes of equipment failures Operate machine shop equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and machining drawings Fabricate replacement parts as needed Inspect machine work to ensure quality standards are met Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to support production goals Follow all safety procedures and company policies Qualifications 1-2 years of machining or mechanical experience preferred Candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn will be considered Basic understanding of milling, drilling, and tapping Ability to read machining drawings Experience using measuring tools including: Dial calipers Micrometers Depth micrometers Height gauges Telescoping gauges Forklift experience is a plus Ability to work effectively in a team environment Preferred Qualifications Machining experience with milling and turning operations Basic fabrication knowledge and experience Manufacturing or industrial maintenance experience Physical Requirements Ability to stand for up to 10 hours Ability to lift up to 50 pounds EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER: Surge is an equal opportunity employer.
