Employer Industry: Community Health Services Why consider this job opportunity: Salary range starting at $22-$26/hour based on experience Opportunity for flexible remote work for highly qualified candidates residing in Alaska 3% employer contribution to a 401(k) retirement plan Paid holidays and accrued paid leave based on hours worked Chance to work in a picturesque location surrounded by outdoor recreational activities Join a passionate team dedicated to improving community health access What to Expect (Job Responsibilities): Document billing activity on patient accounts and submit claims to payors in a timely manner Process incoming payments from patients and third‑party payors, ensuring accurate posting and reconciliation Review and resolve claim rejections and denials, reporting trends to the Revenue Cycle Manager Provide support for the front desk and registration process as needed Assist in training new Billing Specialists and Registration Specialists What is Required (Qualifications): High School graduate or equivalent required; college degree or medical office certificate preferred Minimum of one year of experience in professional billing preferred Experience with medical billing, including Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance preferred Pre‑employment drug screening, TB test, required vaccinations, background check, and reference check required Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications): Certified Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS) preferred for Level II candidates Completion of APCA Medical Billing Specialist Apprenticeship preferred for Level III candidates Experience in insurance payment posting, denial follow‑up, and appeals processes We prioritize candidate privacy and champion equal‑opportunity employment.
