Description

American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for a general adult psychiatric unit requiring 2 years of experience and an MD or compact RN license.

Details

• Inpatient psychiatric hospital setting on a General Adult behavioral health unit
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratio of 1:10
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to any age population required as scheduling needs dictate
• May be required to work as charge RN during a shift
• Uses Sunrise (Allscripts) charting system

Requirements

• Active MD or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• CCG certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of behavioral health RN experience required
• Previous charge RN experience required
• Prior travel nurse experience required, with preference for experience opening a new unit
• Sunrise (Allscripts) EMR experience preferred
• Experience caring for patients with anxiety, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, substance use, suicidal behavior, and trauma-related disorders
• Skilled in physical hold protocols, seclusion protocols, crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and managing assaultive behavior
• Experience with medication administration including antianxiety, antidepressant, antipsychotic, mood stabilizer, and sedative/analgesic medications
• Fingerprinting must be completed in Maryland via livescan prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to adult psychiatric patients in a locked inpatient unit
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Facility maintains a strict no-tolerance policy for medical marijuana use and requires a passed drug screen on the first attempt
• One pre-approved RTO request allowed
• Local candidates accepted
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former permanent employees must wait one full year before applying for a travel position
• Orientation occurs every other Thursday and includes required training modules
