Exciting Opportunity for a Med/Surg RN!

Job Description:


- Shift: 12-Hour Days
- Requirements: Every other weekend commitment
- Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
- Start Dates: 10/12 or 10/26 only
- Floating: First to float between:
- Med/Onc
- 2 Surgical Units
- 2 Medical Units
- Patient Ratios: 6:1


- Unit Overview:
- Total Care - No Patient Care Assistants (PCAs)
- No telemetry, only occasional strip reading
- Transitioning to EPIC in November 2026
- 128 MedSurg Beds
- Common Diagnoses Include:
- Surgical Services: Colorectal, Hepatobiliary, Bariatric, General, Ortho
- Medical Conditions: Diabetes, Heart Disease, COPD, Kidney, and GI Conditions


- Required Certifications:
- BLS


- Experience & Skills:
- Basic medical/surgical experience required
- Experience in large hospital settings preferred


- Unit Dynamics:
- Charge Nurse on each shift who takes an assignment
- Nursing Aides/Patient Care Techs available with varying ratios
- Respiratory support readily available; RNs primarily troubleshoot


- Scheduling:
- Staff assigned based on needs - no self-scheduling
- Weekend requirement: Yes, every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: No
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required to any Med/Surg pod


- Dress Code:
- Navy scrubs, not provided


- Orientation:
- 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation


- Cancellation Policy:
- Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts for 13-week assignments, 3 shifts for less than 13 weeks


- Charting System:
- Cerner
