CardioOne's Newest PracticeMidwest Cardiovascular Institute (MCI) is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as a Medical Assistant. You will be responsible for a variety of patient care, technical, and clerical related functions. The Medical Assistant is responsible for the clinic patient flow by assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of health care services. In this role, you will work directly with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to facilitate outstanding care for our patients. You will report directly to the Assistant Practice Manager.What You'll Do:Interview patients and document basic medical historyUpdate and file medical records and insurance reportsArrange hospital admissions and laboratory servicesCheck with patients and type up patients' chartsParticipates in patient and family education/explanation related to diagnostic testing performed in the clinic settingAssist during medical examinationsProduce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and formsHandle receivable and payable accounts and keep financial recordsPrepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instrumentsProvide patient-centric service and care to all patientsWork independently and collaboratively with the Lead Medical Assistant to serve as a seamless link between patients, practice staff, and physicians to ensure optimal experience for all patients and practice providers.Assist in addressing patient concerns and requests through patient triage, collecting pertinent information to escalate to the provider team as necessaryPrepare charts for Cardiologist - Prepare chart sections in Athena EMR at least 24 hours before the visit with the following; but not limited to: Reason for visit, Patient medication reconciliation, current pharmacy information, lab test results, Imaging testing results. Any and all other pertinent medical information necessary for the care.Execute intake checklist [as defined by practice], perform trained documentation workflows in AthenaHealth EMRPerform and document in-clinic testing and imagingManage all aspects of patient prescription needs, including: placing orders, coordinating care with pharmacies, answering patient questions & managing renewal requestsPerforms other related duties as assigned and serves in whatever other capacity deemed necessary for successful completion of the mission and goals and in concordance with its patient philosophy.What You'll Need:A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in a healthcare office is required.Strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independentlyExcellent communication (verbal and written), clinical and interpersonal skills.Demonstrates strong work ethic and reliability (i.e. attendance and punctuality)Ability to create and sustain meaningful patient experiences.The ability to quickly resolve issues and think outside the boxKnowledge of medical terminology. Must be able to efficiently communicate with patients and providers using appropriate language.Proficiency in MS Office and patient management softwareCertification as a Medical Assistant in good standing requiredKnowledge and use of EHRs (Athena experience is a plus!)Preceptorship of 400+ clinical hours in CardiologyBLS or ACLS requiredWork Location: You will work out of the Hinsdale, IL office.Additional Information: Full-time rate starting at $20 per hour plus medical, dental, and vision. Commensurate with experience.
