DB2 SQL Developer Job Description
As a DB2 SQL Developer, I am responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects within IBM DB2 environments. My work ensures efficient data storage, retrieval, and integration for enterprise applications while maintaining performance, scalability, and security.
Key Responsibilities
Design, write, and optimize complex SQL queries for data retrieval and reporting.
Develop and maintain stored procedures, triggers, views, and functions in DB2.
Perform data modeling, schema design, and normalization for high-performance applications.
Analyze and optimize query performance using EXPLAIN plans and indexing strategies.
Implement ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data across systems.
Support application teams with database integration and troubleshooting.
Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational policies.
Work closely with developers, architects, and business analysts to deliver scalable database solutions.
Skills & Tools
Strong expertise in DB2 SQL and relational database design
Hands-on experience with query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning
Familiarity with Java/Spring Boot applications integrating with DB2
Experience in ETL processes and working with large datasets
Proficiency in stored procedures, functions, and triggers
Tools: IBM Data Studio, DB2 Control Center, DBeaver
Knowledge of data security, backup, and recovery strategies
