ESRI Arc GIS Specialist Remote No of Positions: 1 Projected Start Date: 06-16-2025 Projected End Date: 06-19-2026 Position Type: Contract Location: New York, NY (Remote Work) Required Skills Job Description We are seeking a Senior IT Specialist with a strong background in GIS technologies (ESRI ArcGIS and Schneider Electric ArcFM) and Test Engineering to join our growing utility systems team. This role is ideal for a seasoned GIS professional with at least 10 years of hands-on experience supporting Esri-based GIS platforms including ArcMap, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcFM, and integrating performance optimization techniques using tools such as LoadRunner. You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, responsiveness, and scalability of our GIS platforms that support essential electric and gas utility operations. The ideal candidate is self-managing, solution-oriented, and thrives in dynamic environments where innovation and reliability go hand in hand. You should be capable of simulating user behavior, identifying system bottlenecks, and engineering performance improvements that keep our systems running at peak performance. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise GIS platforms, including ArcMap, ArcFM, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Pro. Develop and execute performance test scripts using LoadRunner in Citrix environments to simulate real-world usage and identify system constraints. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, DBAs, and infrastructure engineers to deliver reliable, high-performing GIS applications. Tune system performance across layers (application, database, server) and troubleshoot complex GIS issues impacting end-user experience. Drive the development of custom GIS solutions and tools to support utility workflows and improve operational efficiency. Analyze performance metrics, system logs, and test results to generate actionable insights and recommendations. Manage upgrades, patches, and enhancements to GIS software and servers, ensuring minimal impact to operations. Mentor junior team members and help establish best practices in system monitoring, testing, and GIS solution delivery. Document solutions, testing methodologies, outage recovery plans, and support procedures. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, GIS, Engineering, or related field. 10+ years of experience in GIS system support and engineering, preferably in utility (electric/gas/water) environments. Deep expertise in ArcFM, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcMap, and related Esri technologies. Strong hands-on experience with LoadRunner or equivalent performance testing tools. Solid understanding of performance tuning techniques for GIS platforms and databases (SQL Server, Oracle). Proven ability to simulate large user bases, analyze system usage, and create solutions to ensure optimal performance. Proficient in scripting languages such as Python (ArcPy) for automation and testing. Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical topics to stakeholders.
