Claims Technician

Position Summary The Claims Technician assists the account manager in monitoring, reviewing and coordinating activities involving complex environmental, asbestos and latent type claims. Position Accountabilities Assist with the allocation and processing of invoices and settlement payments. Summarize and analyze claim documents (including historical files) as directed by the Account Manager. Work with in-house and outside counsel and the Account Manager to oversee the collection, review, and response to document requests. Assist in collection, standardization and assimilation of quantitative data necessary to evaluate large exposures. Coordinate specific case research under the direction of the Account Manager including audit of files, and internal research to develop facts. Prepare routine reports with the assistance of the Account Manager and provide reporting assistance for special assignments and projects. Assist with policy review, analysis and documentation. Create detailed coverage charts using MS Excel. Review accounts for compliance with audit criteria and assist Account Managers in updating them where necessary. Performance Requirements Self-motivated and able to work independently while meeting assigned deadlines. Excellent administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills. Analytical/quantitative skills and attention to detail are essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to speak knowledgably with internal and external clients and prepare comprehensive, concise and grammatically correct reports with little guidance from the Account Manager. Education Bachelor’s degree required Completion of an accredited paralegal program preferred. Experience Prior office experience. Experience with Microsoft Office programs, including ability to create formulas and manipulate data in Excel spreadsheets.
