GRADE K - 6 Teacher Associates

If you are working within the field of education; working in a community-based-organization that works with elementary school aged children or have experience relevant to assisting in the classroom, then consider becoming a Teacher Associate at The Benjamin Banneker Charter Public School. The Teacher Associate works collaboratively with the classroom teacher to ensure that Banneker students thrive academically, socially and emotionally. This position is well suited to a person that is considering becoming a classroom teacher and wants exposure to the real world of the classroom working in a very high performing, high expectations school, predominantly serving students of color working within a very inclusive school community. Many of the long tenured teachers at Banneker started their careers as a Teacher Associate. Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to: Assisting small groups, whole class, or individual students as directed by the classroom teacher Preparing lesson plans in assigned areas as directed by classroom teacher Planning, preparing, and developing various teaching aids Assisting with Preparing, administering, and grading examinations Assisting in maintaining an orderly classroom and supporting school-wide discipline process Assisting in conferences with parents on progress of students Performing administrative duties as requested by the classroom teacher or Executive Director Supervises lunch and recess. All teaching associates are expected to attend staff meetings and cluster meetings (when possible).
