Senior Manager Mechanical Design Engineering, GI Robot

Intuitive Surgical seeks a Senior Manager of Mechanical Design Engineering to lead a team developing new surgical robotic systems for gastrointestinal applications. The role combines technical leadership in complex mechanical product design with functional management of engineers, spanning concept through production and field launch.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and technical personnel on product design and development
• Define technical vision, establish group objectives, track progress, and assess employee performance
• Oversee design documentation, FDA compliance, and design review processes
• Collaborate across functions including manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and clinical teams
• Present technical updates and design rationale to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders

Requirements

• 10+ years of mechanical product design experience
• 5+ years of direct people management experience
• 5+ years taking products from concept to production
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Medical device product development experience preferred
• Proficiency with CAD tools, SolidWorks preferred
• Experience in regulated product design environments
