Registered Nurse 1 (NY HELPS)

Responsibilities Participate in nursing activities, including the preparation, evaluation, and implementation of nursing care plans to ensure quality patient care. Act as health liaison. Coordinate and schedule medical follow‑up, including completion of consultations. Provide first aid and emergency nursing care. Monitor and order pharmaceutical supplies for each individual. Attend team reviews and present information as needed. Meet documentation requirements: obtaining and transcribing physicians’ orders, daily nursing notes, health charts, medication regimen reviews, and case review summaries. Provide medication administration. Maintain inventory standards for medication, controlled substances, and medical supplies. Participate in staff training. Prepare clinical and administrative reports. Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interview. Qualifications One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer. Licensed and currently registered to practice nursing in New York State; must maintain a valid New York State license and registration. For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non‑competitive appointment if the candidate meets the minimum qualifications for the title. Salary and Work Hours Salary Schedule: $96,147–$105,138. The posted hiring salary includes the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 18 and a geographic differential of $20,000. Employees hired for the shift 12 pm–10 pm qualify for a 7% shift differential and inconvenience pay of $575. Employees hired for the evening shift 2 pm–10 pm qualify for the same differential and inconvenience pay. Benefits of Working for NYS 13 paid holidays annually.
