Red Team Penetration Tester

Salary: $110,000 - 150,000 per year Requirements:

• At least five years of experience in software engineering applied to program development, modeling, and simulation for DoD or IT systems.
• Strong, demonstrated knowledge of Linux and foundational Windows knowledge, including an understanding of enterprise networks.
• Working knowledge of penetration-testing tools such as Kali, Metasploit, Nmap, and Cobalt Strike.
• Documented experience in at least one relevant area, such as penetration testing, Red Team operations, security tool or software development, programming, web development, or web application penetration testing.
• Relevant technical experience may include languages and technologies such as Python, C, C#, C++, Go, Perl, PowerShell, PHP, ASP, SQL and NoSQL databases, Java, and HTML; platforms and products such as VMware, Palo Alto, Cisco, NetApp, and Microsoft; identity and access technologies including Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, SSO, MFA, and identity federation; cloud and AWS services; web services and authentication protocols; and related infrastructure, networking, automation, and security tools.
• Hold at least one of the following certifications: Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, or SSCP.
• Hold a penetration-testing certification or qualification, such as an Offensive Security certification (OSCP, OSCE, OSEE, or OSWP), a relevant SANS certification or course (including GPEN, GWAPT, GXPN, SEC642, or SEC564), or comparable experience such as completing the OSD-sponsored Cyber Operation Academy Course, participating in Capture the Flag events, or security research resulting in a CVE.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• An active Secret clearance is required. An active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is preferred. Applicants selected will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

• Debug and reverse-engineer software.
• Analyze Windows events and Linux syslog, boot, and dmesg logs.
• Program and debug software, scripts, and graphical user interfaces using technologies such as Java, Perl, Ada, C++, and Tcl/Tk, and use Microsoft Visual and Rational ClearCase for software configuration management.
• Recommend system software changes to mitigate known vulnerabilities, and operate and administer systems running HP-UX, UNIX, Solaris, Linux, and Microsoft Windows.
• Identify security flaws in compiled software and human-readable source code; assess code and systems involving real-time VxWorks and LynxOS, CORBA, firewalls, and networking protocols.
• Apply NSA-approved encryption technologies and devices, and implement DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
• Apply virtual hosting and server technologies in system architectures, including deceptive technologies such as honeypots.
• Participate in code reviews, perform static source-code analysis, and provide recommendations to improve software and code design.
• Contribute to a System Security Administrator and Operators Manual (SSAOM).
