Construction Project Manager
The Construction Project Manager leads large, complex commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role combines strategic planning, advanced estimating, and hands-on project execution to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. The position requires strong financial acumen, proactive leadership, and excellent communication skills to effectively manage internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders on high-impact construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead large, complex commercial construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
- Oversee and participate in preconstruction services, including advanced estimating, budgeting, and planning activities for projects valued at $20M+.
- Manage all phases of construction project management, including scheduling, procurement, change management, risk management, and cost control.
- Coordinate and lead multi-disciplinary project teams, including internal staff, subcontractors, and suppliers, to ensure cohesive execution of project plans.
- Develop, monitor, and update project schedules using construction scheduling software, proactively identifying and resolving potential delays.
- Prepare, review, and manage change orders, ensuring accurate documentation, pricing, and communication with all stakeholders.
- Apply working knowledge of construction law, contracts, and standard business practices to manage contractual obligations and mitigate project risk.
- Maintain strong financial oversight of projects, including budget tracking, cost forecasting, and reporting on project financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and standards, interpreting and applying them appropriately throughout the project lifecycle.
- Foster a strong customer service mindset by maintaining clear, professional communication with clients, design teams, and project partners.
- Promote and support a safe work environment on all project sites, aligning with safety standards and best practices.
- Prepare and deliver project status reports and documentation using Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore, and related construction technologies.
- Travel to project sites as needed to oversee project progress, resolve issues, and support on-site teams.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction project management or related roles.
- At least 8 years of experience managing large, complex construction projects valued at $20M or more.
- Demonstrated expertise in preconstruction services and advanced estimating for commercial construction projects.
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams on complex construction work.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of construction law, contracts, and standard business practices.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for reporting, documentation, and communication.
- Proficiency with construction scheduling software for planning and monitoring project timelines.
- Experience using Bluebeam for document review, markup, and coordination.
- Experience using Procore or similar construction management technologies for project tracking and collaboration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong customer service mindset.
- Ability to interpret and apply internal policies and procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for project assignments.

- Extensive experience working with commercial construction projects for general contractors.
- Strong financial acumen and ability to manage budgets, cost forecasts, and project financial performance.
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and proactive decision-making.
- High level of professionalism and accountability in delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN.
The pay range for this position is $67.00 - $73.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
