Job Title: Warehouse Material Handler
Job Description
The Warehouse Material Handler plays a key role in the safe, accurate, and efficient movement, storage, and distribution of materials within a warehouse and production facility. You ensure materials are received, stored, picked, packed, and delivered to the correct locations on time while maintaining strict inventory accuracy and consistently prioritizing safety. This role combines hands-on material handling, forklift operation, cycle counting, and basic data entry using computer systems to support daily production and logistics operations.

Work Environment
This role is based in a warehouse and production facility with approximately 150-160 full-time employees, focused on meeting high production numbers and efficiency goals. The environment includes exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures typical of an industrial setting. You will work around forklifts, pallet jacks, saws, and other material handling and production equipment, and you must follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment at all times. Standard shifts operate on a three-shift schedule: 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and 3rd shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Certain departments, such as MCO and Shipping, may follow more traditional schedules around 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dress expectations include jeans, a t-shirt, steel-toed shoes, and required PPE, which is provided. The role requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and repetitive motions throughout the shift in a fast-paced, production-oriented warehouse environment.

Job Description
The Warehouse Material Handler plays a key role in the safe, accurate, and efficient movement, storage, and distribution of materials within a warehouse and production facility. You ensure materials are received, stored, picked, packed, and delivered to the correct locations on time while maintaining strict inventory accuracy and consistently prioritizing safety. This role combines hands-on material handling, forklift operation, cycle counting, and basic data entry using computer systems to support daily production and logistics operations.
Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and unload incoming materials and products, verifying accuracy against documentation.
- Accurately pick, pack, stage, and transport materials to designated production or shipping locations.
- Load and unload trucks, containers, and pallets using manual methods and material handling equipment.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, sit-down forklifts, stand-up forklifts, and order pickers once trained and certified.
- Perform regular cycle counts and manual inventory counts to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Use computer systems and basic Microsoft Office tools to complete data entry and track inventory and material movement.
- Label, sort, and store materials according to established procedures, ensuring proper organization and identification.
- Prepare materials for shipment, including packing, palletizing, and completing required shipping and receiving documentation.
- Support shipping and receiving activities by loading, unloading, checking, and recording inbound and outbound shipments.
- Operate saws and other production-related equipment as needed to support material preparation and processing.
- Apply basic math and reading skills, including the use of a ruler and measurement tools, to ensure accurate cuts, counts, and measurements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety standards and housekeeping expectations.
- Identify damaged, non-conforming, or incorrect materials and promptly report issues to supervision.
- Follow all safety procedures and consistently use required personal protective equipment while working around moving equipment and industrial processes.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet production targets, efficiency goals, and customer requirements.
- Perform other warehouse, production support, or general labor duties as assigned to support overall operations.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1+ years of warehouse and production experience in a metals facility or manufacturing-related environment.
- Experience in material handling within a warehouse or production setting.
- Forklift operation experience, including sit-down and stand-up forklifts, or the ability and willingness to obtain forklift certification.
- Background in warehouse operations, including inventory control, shipping and receiving, and order picking.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic math skills, including the ability to use a ruler and perform measurements accurately.
- Basic computer skills for inventory tracking, data entry, and documentation, including use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in counts, documentation, and material handling.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a shift.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials, often up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions in a warehouse and production environment.
- Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team to meet operational goals.
- Previous experience in a high-volume warehouse or production facility with strong expectations for production numbers and efficiencies.
- Experience in a metals facility or similar manufacturing environment handling heavy or specialized materials.
- Exposure to warehouse inventory systems and inventory control processes.
- Experience with pallet jacks and other material handling equipment.
- Background in packing, packaging, loading, and general labor tasks in a warehouse setting.
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes, including documentation and carrier coordination.
- Ability to adapt to varying temperatures and industrial conditions within a warehouse or production facility.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain an orderly work area under fast-paced conditions.
- Comfort working across different departments such as MCO and Shipping, with flexibility to adjust to department-specific schedules.
