Facilities Technician II

Job Overview Under general supervision, perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities or on machines and equipment. Perform work in one or more maintenance trades including carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication and welding. Conduct routine, periodic or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery and equipment. Use hand and power tools to test, inspect, troubleshoot and repair machines and equipment. Use blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings and specifications. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. Perform all duties in compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable federal, state and local regulations. This role is not eligible for relocation assistance; regional travel is involved and the position reports to the Portland facility five days a week. Hourly range: $22.26-$23.73 per hour. Key Responsibilities Maintain and repair organizational facilities and properties, including patching holes and cracks, repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps and sidewalks, painting structures and equipment, installing and correcting minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry and structural problems, documenting installations, operating boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps and related mechanical equipment. Move and store furniture and equipment. Estimate time and material costs for projects and requisition new supplies and equipment. Plant and tend flowerbeds; prune shrubs and trees; water lawns, shrubs and flowerbeds; spray fertilizer and insecticides; rake and remove fallen leaves; sweep walkways and staircases; remove snow using power removal equipment or a shovel; apply snow‑melting chemical when necessary. Drive a vehicle to other locations. Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Minimum Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; a trade license may be required. Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Related experience includes painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work. Management Experience: N/A. Skills & Abilities: Previous truck and/or bus driving experience desirable; basic computer skills; exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to work on a team; a current valid driver's license and good driving record required. On‑call duties may be required. Travel: Will drive vehicle to other locations. Combination of education and general experience may satisfy requirements so long as total years equal the minimum education and experience years combined. Preferred Qualifications Strong customer service skills. Familiarity with facility management systems such as EMAX. Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite. Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a highly matrixed environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Physical Requirements Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear. Frequently lift or move objects 10–50 lbs; lift or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs with assistance or the use of a powered industrial truck. Frequently push carts weighing up to 250 lbs on flat flooring or ramps. Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally sit, climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and work with a variety of chemicals and solvents. Position may require climbing ladders for top‑level selection.
