Summary

Safety Manager (SM): Owns safety performance on an assigned project(s). First level with formal authority to issue permits, approve subcontractor plans.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Project Safety Audits & Hazard Recognition

• Assists with the observation cadence and quality standard for the assigned project(s).
• Exercises and back up stop-work decisions on assigned projects.

Fulltime Project Safety Oversight

• Assists superintendent with operation permits on site.
• Issues safety-related corrective actions.
• Interfaces directly with the client, GC, and regulatory agencies.

Safety Incident Management

• Leads incident response on the assigned project.
• Leads investigations and root cause analyses.
• Manages OSHA recordability determinations for the assigned project.
• Supports regional emergency response and serious-incident escalation on an on-call rotation.
• Manages regulatory inspections on assigned project(s).
• Assists with project environmental compliance.

Tracking Project Safety Records

• Owns the completeness and audit-readiness of project safety records.
• Owns project safety metrics.
• Enforces the site-specific safety plan and emergency action plan.
• Configures and manage HammerTech for assigned projects.
• Pilots new corporate tools and forms and provide structured feedback before rollout.

Safety Training and Guidance to Project Teams

• Delivers required training to the project staff and workforce.
• Assists with training plan tracking reminders.
• Maintains training, qualifications and BCSP credential(s) in good standing; 24 hours CE annually.
• Mentors Safety Engineers and provide formal performance evaluation input for direct reports.
• Coaches superintendents and foremen to own safety outcomes.
• Provides interview input for Safety Engineer and intern candidates.

Safety Program Leadership

• Participates in regional safety calls; share project observations and trends.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction or industrial safety experience, including experience as a Safety Engineer or in a similar field safety role.
• BCSP credential (e.g., CHST, ASP) in good standing, or ability to obtain within an agreed timeframe.
• Demonstrated ability to issue permits and approve subcontractor safety plans.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA recordkeeping, incident investigation, and regulatory inspection response.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role splits time between an assigned project site and a project or field office. Work requires following all site safety protocols and appropriate personal protective equipment at all times. Duties regularly require standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 25 pounds, in all weather conditions, including during incident response and on-call rotations.

Compu Dynamics Pay Range

$95,000—$138,000 USD

• Paid Parental Leave – 8 weeks maternity leave and 2 weeks paternity leave, concurrent with FMLA.

• Boot Reimbursement – up to $150 annually, available from your first day.

• Tool Reimbursement – $250 annually, available after 60 days.

• Tuition Reimbursement – up to $5,000 annually for approved educational programs.
