Position Summary

• The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of complex engineering and infrastructure projects supporting electric transmission, distribution, generation, and renewable energy initiatives. This role partners with engineering, operations, construction, environmental, regulatory, and external contractor teams to deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all corporate, regulatory, and industry requirements.
• The ideal candidate brings strong experience managing capital engineering projects within a regulated utility environment and possesses a solid understanding of project governance, risk management, compliance requirements, and NERC reliability standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

• Lead the full project lifecycle for utility and engineering projects from initiation through commissioning and closeout.
• Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and procurement activities.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including engineering, construction, operations, environmental, permitting, and vendor partners.
• Facilitate project meetings, executive updates, and stakeholder communications.
• Drive issue resolution and decision-making to maintain project schedules and business objectives.

Risk Management & Compliance

• Develop and maintain project risk registers, mitigation plans, and contingency strategies.
• Identify regulatory, operational, safety, financial, and technical risks throughout project execution.
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance processes, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Support internal and external audits by maintaining project documentation and compliance records.
• Monitor project adherence to environmental, safety, and quality management requirements.

NERC/SERC Regulatory Oversight

• Ensure projects comply with applicable NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) standards and regional reliability requirements.
• Support compliance initiatives related to transmission, generation, and critical infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate with compliance, cybersecurity, engineering, and operations teams to address NERC CIP and reliability-related requirements when applicable.
• Maintain awareness of emerging regulatory changes and assess project impacts.
• Partner with regulatory affairs and compliance teams to ensure project deliverables support reliability and operational excellence objectives.

Engineering & Construction Coordination

• Review engineering deliverables, design packages, technical drawings, and project specifications.
• Coordinate contractor and vendor performance, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and quality standards.
• Manage change control processes and evaluate impacts to schedule, budget, and scope.
• Support construction planning, field execution, startup activities, and project turnover.

Financial & Performance Management

• Track project costs, forecasts, earned value metrics, and budget performance.
• Prepare executive-level status reports highlighting progress, key risks, mitigation strategies, and financial performance.
• Monitor project KPIs and identify opportunities for process improvements and execution efficiencies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related technical field.
• 7+ years of project management experience supporting engineering, utility, energy, infrastructure, or capital projects.
• Experience managing large-scale engineering or utility projects exceeding $5M in capital value.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management practices.
• Experience working within highly regulated environments.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
