Candidates will be trained in Quality Control systems, Electric Boat procedures applicable to the work they are performing and Quality Department Instructions.All successful candidates will be required to maintain an MT or PT certification. Further opportunities for inspection disciplines such as UT, Pre-Test, Electrical, Mechanical, etc. may be made available once proficiency has been achieved and maintained in Magnetic Particle.Successful candidates will embody the Electric Boats Core Values, work safely, be responsible for themselves, their peers, the ship and crew who will operate our vessel. We are the last line of defense for the integrity of our product.Location & Schedule:This position is located at Electric Boat's Quonset Point Facility in North Kingstown, RI.Schedule: Monday – Thursday, four 10-hour shifts with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift opportunities.QualificationsRequired:High School Diploma or Equivalent OR 2 plus years of related technical experienceMust be able to obtain an MT, PT, or ET certificationMust be able to attain a key department qualification/certification within the first six months after starting as a Quality InspectorAbility to grind joints and clear indications as needed throughout inspection processAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints and diagramsBasic mathematical skills Ability to work at heights, tightly confined spaces and in extreme weather conditionsAccurate documentation, record keeping and archiving along with verifying previous status of work for completion is a critical job functionPossess your own basic hand toolsMust be able to work all shifts, extended week days and weekends as requiredAbility to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of WarPreferred:Inspection/quality assurance experienceMechanical and Electrical experiencePipe hanger installation experienceStructural experienceNACE CertifiedMetal fabrication experienceMilitary shipbuilding experienceCompletion of Vocational, Technical, Community College or Apprentice programsKnowledge of shipboard assemblies, installations, components and structuresRelated military/Navy experienceSkillsExceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest quality standardsEffective note-taking and documentation skillsAdaptability to switch from one job to another as business needs dictateStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work in a collaborative and team environment to meet organizational goalsPositive, self-motivated attitude with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issuesPhysical QualificationsClimbing, Color Vision, Crawling, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, TwistingEnvironmental AttributesAcids or Alkalis, Cold, Dry, Dusty, Fumes, Hot, Inside, Noise, Oily, Wet
