Job Summary The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, under general supervision, helps Physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology lab procedures. Prepares room and equipment, instructs patients, monitors patient condition, and provides routine and emergency patient care during procedures. Contributes to orientation and training of other team members and assists with quality control initiatives. Essential Functions Of The Role Helps Physicians with arteriograms, catheterizations, pacemaker and defibrillator implantations, diagnostic and interventional procedures, peripheral and coronary interventions, thrombolytic therapy. Follows national and state regulations for radiation protection for patients, self and staff; provides emergency procedures (CPR, defibrillation) as needed. Performs pre‑ and post‑procedure care and monitoring. Orients patients for catheterization or electrophysiology procedures. Answers related questions to help patients relax. Monitors patient’s ECG, pressures, temperature, and impedances while in the Electrophysiology Lab; notifies physician of variances. Helps run RF/Cryo ablation systems, 3D mapping, and records procedural documentation. Manages and maintains images (including stenosis testing) and processes data for cardiac and peripheral cases. Helps in procedure rooms, collects registry and quality data on appropriate forms. Gathers catheterization data and prepares procedure reports. Prepares and maintains sterile fields for lab procedures. Orders and maintains inventory of procedure room supplies; ensures utilities are stocked and equipment not expired. Coordinates and/or audits resources during yearly inventories. Performs routine calibration and maintenance of complex equipment; notifies team members for fixes. Helps with orientation and training of new staff and students or other duties as directed. Oversees quality control monitoring, including NPSG audits, turnaround times, performance improvement initiatives (daily, monthly, quarterly). Participates in governance, departmental or professional organizations and committees, including LEAN initiatives and QC assurance. Transports patients to and from procedural area. Demonstrates good customer service skills. Key Success Factors Education and/or experience requirements: Associates degree in a related field; completion of US military training program with equivalent experience; or 2 years of related cardiovascular lab experience. Must be available for on‑call response requirements per facility policy. Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular values, instrumentation and techniques. Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology. Qualifications Registry: Must hold an RCIS, ARRT (Radiologic Technologist), TMB Radiography or imaging credential. Education: Technical or Associates degree in Radiology; new program graduates welcomed. Experience: 1 year in the Cath Lab or 2 years in the Cath Lab (experience in lieu of education). Schedule: Full‑time day shift, Monday‑Friday, 4 days per week, 7 am–5:30 pm, with rotational call every 4 weeks. Cross‑training: Willing to cross‑train an EP tech or RN that scrubs cardiac cases. Certification/License/Registration: Must meet at least one of the following within 30 days: ACLS, BLS, ARRT‑R, Cert Cardiac Device Spec, Cert EP Specialist, Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT), Reg Cardio Electrophysiology (RCES), Reg Cardiovascular Invasive Procedure (RCIS).
